Health Information Technicians are members of the healthcare team that organize and manage health information including patient’s medical records. Health Information Technologists ensure that the information is classified and stored correctly maintaining record quality, accuracy, and security. If you are interested in career in healthcare and enjoy aspects of management, law, and computers, Health Information Technology might be right for you.
The Mission of the Kaskaskia College Health Information Technology Program is to provide quality comprehensive educational opportunities that will prepare graduates to obtain employment and make positive contributions to the community through employment in the health care system.
The Health Information Technology program is taught online enabling students to complete the program on their own time. It follows the curriculum requirements as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association ensuring that students receive the highest quality education and training.

- Interpret and apply policies, standards, accreditation and regulatory requirements to the collection, organization, processing, management and protection of health information.
- Analyze and demonstrate the use of technology applications in all aspects of health information.
