Academic Quality Improvement Program

Since 2005 Kaskaskia College has been a member in the Higher Learning Commission's Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). AQIP infuses the principles and benefits of continuous improvement into the culture of colleges and universities by providing an alternative process through which an already accredited institution can maintain its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. AQIP is one of three options institutions have for maintaining accreditation with HLC.

AQIP 8 Year Cycle

Strategy Forum Years 1 and 4: A three-day Strategy Forum identifies priority projects for Kaskaskia College, which guide the selection of AQIP Action Projects.

Action Projects Update and Review
Each year: Kaskaskia College provides the HLC with Action Projects Updates three times annually and receives responses through HLC's Action Projects Review. The most recent update was in April, 2015.

Systems Portfolio and Appraisal
Years 3 and 7: Kaskaskia College's System's Portfolio provides information about its programs and services, describes process improvements, and highlights performance indicator results. In response, HLC issues a detailed Systems Appraisal of Kaskaskia College’s strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Comprehensive Quality Review
Years 4 (optional) and 8: The Comprehensive Quality Review team will visit campus and engage Kaskaskia College in discussions about its Action Projects, initiatives featured in the Systems Portfolio, and strategies designed through the Strategy Forums. This team will also review results from any concerns or issues raised by the Systems Appraisal team.

Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Year 8: The final report of the Comprehensive Quality Review visit team and the documentation that supports it (e.g., past Systems Portfolios and Appraisals, Action Projects Updates and Reviews, federal compliance documentation, etc.) will serve as the basis for reaffirming accreditation. Kaskaskia is accredited through 2018-2019.
