Kaskaskia College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
While on a Higher Learning Commission sanction of “Accreditation- On Notice” the College remains accredited, and has the opportunity to remedy the issues that led to the sanction. The finding means the institution complies with the Criteria for Accreditation, but is at risk of being out of compliance on certain core components of Criteria 3, 4 and 5. The period of Notice is not more than two years in length.
In anticipation of this Notice, the College has developed and implemented plans to address the concerns of the Higher Learning Commission:
- Revise the current Strategic Plan to reflect a 3-year plan which integrates facilities, technology, assessment, and strategic enrollment plans
- Refine the college’s strategic planning processes to include linking its processes for assessment of student learning, evaluation of operations, planning, and budgeting
- Implementation of system wide assessment processes, including oversight of the curriculum and program review across all educational locations and modalities
During the two year period, the college remains accredited with the Higher Learning Commission; college credits transfer, financial aid will be dispersed and the high quality of academic programs remain. More information about accreditation standards can be found at:
