Kaskaskia Alumn Brock Styninger of Nashville says he owes the start of this career to the KC Criminal Justice Program.

Styninger graduated from Nashville Community High School in 2010 and then completed his Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice from KC in May of 2012.  He has been employed with the Nashville Police Department since 2012 and was promoted from patrolman to lieutenant in 2018.

“I would recommend Kaskaskia to anyone of any age wishing to attain a degree to help better themselves. My two-year experience there flew by with many positive memories and achievements made. The entire process of attaining my degree was a positive one and I am extremely thankful I chose KC”, Styninger says.

He adds, “I originally decided to go to Kaskaskia as it was close to home and had a very reputable criminal justice program that I believe continues to grow and improve. I heard great things about Professor Ken Ingersoll and he and the program exceeded my expectations”.

Brock says that KC helped him with a "jump start" towards with his criminal justice education. “Going into the criminal justice program at KC, I knew that after a short time after graduating I would be trying to get hired as a police officer and go to the academy. My education at the KC criminal justice program gave me a solid foundation and preparation for my training at the police academy as well as adapting to my career after all of my training.  Professor Ingersoll does a fantastic job with this program and I cannot thank him enough for helping me build a solid foundation for my career in criminal justice”.

Kaskaskia College Criminal Justice Professor Ken Ingersoll adds, “It is one of the greatest joys to watch my students go through the program, graduate, and start their careers.  That is the strength of our Career and Technical Educational programs at KC.  I love being a positive part of our student’s start in the profession.”

Brock and his wife currently reside in Nashville.
