Vandalia Education Center - Student Worker

STUDENT MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL WORK STUDY

Title of Position:  Student Worker

Location:  Vandalia Education Center

Supervisor: Wendy Blythe, Vandalia Education Center Director

Hours per week:  15 hours-Hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 am-2:00 pm.

Employment Status:  Student Worker

Function:  to provide customer service to all students, faculty, staff and visitors.  Assist director in basic office duties.                      

Position Description: 

  • General office and receptionist duties
  • Communicating with students and the general public to requested departments.
  • Referring students and the general public to requested departments.

Qualifications:   

  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each for the fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours for the summer semester
  • Basic computer skills
  • Communication Skills - Specific knowledge, skill, and ability in customer service
  • Proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and work with minimal supervision
  • Time Management skills
  • Typing, faxing, data entry and database management
  • Stocking/Inventory
  • Running errands/delivery and retrieval of materials around campus and community
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


Required Duties:

  • Greet and assist students, faculty, staff and visitors to the center
  • Typing, faxing, data entry
  • Basic cleaning of indoor facilities, designated areas and equipment
  • Stocking/inventory
  • Delivery and retrieval of materials around campus and community

Evaluation Procedure:    The Student worker’s performance is evaluated on a daily basis with positive feedback as well as learning instructions when the need arises.


Hourly wage is $14.00 per hour.
