Fitness Attendant

Function

The Fitness Attendant is responsible for building positive, friendly relationships with all Kaskaskia College Fitness Center members and guests who use the cardiovascular and strength areas. Responsibilities also include training members on proper use of the equipment as well as preventative and general maintenance of the cardiovascular and strength training equipment areas.

Qualifications for Position

This position requires the incumbent to possess:

  1. An outgoing personality and a willingness to introduce ones self to new members daily.
  2. A basic understanding of exercise physiology and the proper use of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
  3. CPR Certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  4. An ability to teach others. The incumbent must learn themselves, and then be prepared to put members through equipment orientations within 7 days of employment.
  5. Must also support the mission and values of the Kaskaskia College.
  6. The nature of this position requires medium physical efforts such as setting up equipment, lifting water bottles and weights.

Other Functions

Responsible for all other duties deemed necessary including, but not exclusive to:

  1. Building relationships with Kaskaskia College Fitness Center members and staff.
  2. Arriving ready to work at scheduled times.
  3. Wearing appropriate clothing and maintaining a neat appearance.
  4. Monitoring equipment (Stereo, free-weights, cardio, circuit machines).
  5. Roaming and monitoring the fitness area.
  6. Providing feedback to members on exercise technique when appropriate.


Wage is $14.00 per hour.
