Responsible for performing comprehensive advising and related services for all students on academic programs, courses and schedules. Academic advising creates a roadmap for student success – supporting overall student retention, persistence, and completion.
Reports to the Director of Academic Advising, who reports to the VP of Student Services, who reports to the College President
Qualifications for Position
Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
Experience advising students and/or in providing other student success services in a college environment. Other relevant experience will be considered.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
Commitment to teamwork and consensus decision making.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience working with career development skills and resources
Advise students face to face and via alternate distance forms of communication regarding academic programs, courses, and schedules.
Provide support for retention, persistence, and completion (RPC) related outreach initiatives within the retention CRM.
Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers to achieve customer service goals as established by the Kaskaskia College leadership teams.
Embrace new technology resources and initiatives identified to increase operational efficiency and enhance the student experience.
Refer students to support services and resources available to facilitate success and support overall RPC goals.
Prepare & present degree audits for degree completion planning and financial aid appeal documentation.
Ensure that all information on advising and transfer issues is up to date and current with departmental policies.
Develop accurate student education plans
Ensure consistency in the student education plan development and communication process with faculty.
Perform other advising duties as assigned.
Required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Reports to the Director of Academic Advising. Consultation with VP of Student Services is available as needed.
Position is expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Position is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, and fairness.
Position will have daily contact with students and other College employees.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Position is performed in a busy environment with frequent distractions and interruptions. Travel within the College district and some nights and weekends are required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $18.72 per hour.
