Sexual Assault Victim Advocate
Job Description
The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) is responsible for delivering effective compassionate advocacy services in assigned service regions under the direction of the Executive Director.
-Provide medical and legal advocacy and care management services for the victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse or other type of sexual violence to ensure their rights as victims are upheld
-Provide limited on-call emergency services on a rotating basis with the full-time and crisis advocates
-Accompany victims to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, States Attorney/Court appointments/proceedings to provide support and information on medical/legal processes
-Provide appropriate referrals to community agencies or individual seeking assistance
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings
-Assist with fundraising and awareness events
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services/Criminal Justice or 3+ years; experience preferred
Complete ICASA 40 hour training, confidentiality training, and any additional required Advocate training made available by ICASA. Completion of annual 6 hours continued education
Excellent verbal, listening and writing skills
Ability to use personal vehicle for agency travel
Read, understand, and adhere to policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook
