CT Technologist

Job Description

The CR Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material.  Prepares and administers contrast material based on Carle policies and procedures.

-Perform computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols.  This includes performing multiplanar reformats and/or 3D rendered images independently. Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate. Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam. Recognizes and responds to any adverse reactions or allergic reactions. Screens the patient for possibility of pregnancy and performs pregnancy test if applicable. 

-Ensures patient, visitor and environmental safety. Reports safety events immediately including those that are a near miss

- Assists in instructions of students and new staff as necessary. May perform duties of CT Lead and Imaging Coordinator in his/her absence

- Assists in instruction of students and new staff.  May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator.


Qualifications

Associates Degree in related Field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology

Radiography (R)(ARRT) upon hire of Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB) upon hire and IEMA Radiography License upon hire and Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) within 1 year and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 Das

Demonstrate technical expertise in radiology

Positive attitude and demonstrated willingness to assess and improve work environment

Ability to perform multiple tasks while coordinating patient flow and a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative

Ability to become competent in performing venipuncture
