An introduction to the study of communication theories and concepts relevant to face-to-face interpersonal interaction. Course emphasis is placed on the role of communication in the creation, maintenance, and termination of social, romantic, familial, and professional relationships. Topics explored are the communication process, identity, emotions, listening, perception, language, verbal and nonverbal communication, relational dynamics, and conflict management.
