Kaskaskia College’s Office of Continuing and Community Education July/August schedule for the Kids In College at Kaskaskia (KICK) program at KC’s main campus and all education centers include: 

Centralia: 

• 7/12, 7/14, 7/19, 7/21 – Yoga for Kids, Ages: 1st-6th grade, Main Campus
Kids will practice yoga in a non-traditional way designed for kids, and create a "toolbox" of de-stressing tools.
• 7/15 – Tote Bag Making, Ages: K-8th grade, Crisp Technology Center
Students will be making a tote bag out of a shirt, with an optional fringed edge along the bottom!
• 7/21 – Summer Wreaths and Baskets, Ages: 3rd-8th grade, Crisp Technology Center
Students will take home a little summer after decorating a wreath and a basket with colorful, everlasting flowers!
• 7/22 – Scrapbooking, Ages: K-8th grade, Crisp Technology Center
Preserve memories forever with scrapbooking. Students will learn to crop, glue, and creatively place their photos to build a lasting keepsake! Students will create a mini scrapbook that will easily fit into a bag or pocket!
• 8/4-8/5 – Typing Skills, Ages: 4th-8th grade, Crisp Technology Center
This class will help students improve their keyboarding skills.

Greenville:

• 7/7 – Summer Baskets and Wreaths, Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Students will take home a little summer after decorating a wreath and a basket with colorful, everlasting flowers!
• 7/26-7/29 – Cursive Writing for Kids, Ages: 2nd- 5th grade
Students will learn to write the alphabet in cursive in this cursive writing class, including their names.

Nashville:

• 7/26-7/27 – STEM Adventures, Ages: K-3rd grade
Go on a Google Expedition science adventure along with a fun, hands-on activity. After that, you will get moving while completing some team-building activities.
• 7/28-7/29 – STEM Adventures, Ages: 4th-8thgrade
Go on a Google Expedition science adventure along with a fun, hands-on activity. After that, you will get moving while completing some team-building activities.

Salem:

• 7/15 – Computers for Kids, Ages: 4th-8th grade
This class offers basic instruction and tips on improving computer skills. Students will learn and improve their skills with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• 7/21 – Storytelling and Puppet Making, Ages: K- 3rd grade
Children will explore great children’s books with fun and exciting activities, including making puppets and crafts.
• 7/27 – Cool Cooking, Ages: 3rd- 5th grade
Make snacks or easy lunches without a stove or oven. Students will eat what they create and take samples home.

Trenton:

• 7/12-7/15 – Lego® Robotics 101, Ages: 7-12 years
Students will build LEGO® creations, turn them into a robot and program them!
• 7/12-7/15 – Lego® Stop Motion, Ages: 8-13 years
Students will plan, script, stage, shoot, and produce their mini-movie using stop motion animation in this fun and creative camp.
• 7/19-7/22 – Poetry for Kids, Ages: K-3rd grade
Learn to utilize sound, rhythm, and flow to create dynamic work that grabs the reader without all those extra words. Students will enjoy fun activities that show why specific techniques work and engage in art projects that will connect to their own poems' themes.
• 7/19-7/22 – Poetry for Kids, Ages: 4th-7th grade

• 7/26-7/29 – Scratch Coding, Ages: 8-13 years
Scratch is the best introduction to coding for beginners. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Students will also have fun playing camp-style games and a few LEGO® building challenges.
• 7/26-7/29 – Digital Comic Books, Ages: 7-12 years
Students will learn to develop storylines and use still pictures of actual sets, all designed with LEGO® Bricks, to create their very own one-of-a-kind digital comic book!

Vandalia:


• 7/6 – Beginning Guitar for Kids, Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Bring your guitar and join us for a fun and educational kid’s jam session!
• 7/12 and 7/15 – Picasso Style Painting, Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Students will be creating a non-traditional acrylic painting in the style of Picasso.
• 7/12 and 7/15 – Pour Painting for Kids, Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Students will use various techniques to make abstract paintings with liquid acrylic paints in this pour painting class.
• 7/20 – Create a Sun Catcher, Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Students will paint a small wooden animal, and then with beads, create a sun-catcher that can be placed in a window.
• 8/2-8/5 – Cursive Hand Writing, Ages: 2nd-5th grade
In this cursive writing class, students will learn to write the alphabet in cursive and their names.
