Up to this moment, what is your proudest teaching moment? I wouldn’t say that there is one distinct moment. I am particularly proud when I hear of former students doing well when they continue into their chosen field. In particular, I have had students from my Elementary Education courses that I later find out have become exceptional teachers. My wife teaches in the public school system, so I often hear reports from her or her colleagues about success of former KC students. I realize that those particular students are a product of KC as a whole and not just from my mathematics courses.
What are your goals as a teacher at Kaskaskia College? As a teacher at KC, my major goal is to help my students grow in knowledge and understanding. Mathematics is more than just a set of rules or steps to get from point A to point B. I want my students to see the opportunities for applying their knowledge in realistic situations. Applying Statistics to study human behaviors being one example.
