Welding and CRISP Center Student Worker

Title of Position: Welding and Crisp Center Student Worker

Function:

What is the position’s responsibilities?

To prep metal in the welding shop for the students.  Clean and sweep the welding shop.  Organize and clean up the back parking lot storage areas.  Help out the other departments at the Crisp Center when ever needed.

 

Organizational Relationship:

Position reports to?  Welding instructor or any other Crisp Faculty when needed

 

Qualifications: 

Must be enrolled in classes at the Crisp Center, preferably the welding classes.  Able to lift 50 pounds.  Have the ability to stay busy and work with their hands.

 

Required:

·         Able to use a cutting torch

  • Able to understand measurements and use a tape measure
  • Have the basic skills to use hand and power tools
  • Have a basic understanding of construction safety

 

Preferred:

  • Some welding Knowledge
  • Some sort of high school vocational classes
     

Essential Functions:

  • Sweep floors
  • Mop floors
  • Put away tools
  • Organize parts
  • Cut and grind metal
  • Organize and stack material

Other Functions:

 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Set up labs equipment for INDT
  • Cut up scrap for all departments
  • Cut and prepare weld coupons
  • Once a week mop the welding shop to help with dirt being tracked through the building
  • Clean machines
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance

They will consult with the welding instructors or other faculty who work at the Crisp
