Position Title: Peer Tutor – Cosmetology
Hourly Rate: $15.00/hour
Position Type: Federal Work Study (Student Employment)
Position Summary:
The Peer Tutor – Cosmetology supports the academic success of fellow students by providing tutoring assistance in cosmetology-related coursework. This role is designed for a high-achieving cosmetology student who can serve as a mentor and guide to others in the program. The position may involve both face-to-face and virtual sessions, depending on the needs of the students and availability of the tutor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide academic support to cosmetology students in various subject areas such as theory, practical application, and exam preparation

Schedule and hold regular tutoring sessions at mutually agreed-upon times with students

Offer both individual and small group tutoring sessions

Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment

Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to FERPA guidelines

Submit timesheets and session documentation in a timely manner

Communicate regularly with program instructors and/or supervisors regarding student progress or concerns
Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in the Cosmetology Program

Must qualify for Federal Work Study

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

Strong understanding of cosmetology course content

Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and relatable manner

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Reliable, punctual, and organized

Ability to meet virtually or in-person as needed
Work Schedule:
Up to 20 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and based on student and tutor availability.
