Position Summary:

The IT Student Worker supports the daily operations of the Information Technology Department by assisting with technical support, equipment maintenance, and technology deployments. This position provides hands-on experience in a professional IT environment while helping ensure smooth and efficient technology services across Kaskaskia College.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with basic troubleshooting of hardware, software, and peripheral issues.

• Provide first-tier technical support to faculty, staff, and students under supervision.

• Perform inventory tracking, asset tagging, and equipment setup.

• Deliver and retrieve technology equipment to and from classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces.

• Assist with technology deployment, imaging, and device configuration.

• Support documentation efforts, including labeling and organizing cables, devices, and equipment logs.

• Respond to tickets or assignments through the IT ticketing system in coordination with full-time staff.

• Help maintain A/V setups for events and classroom use.

• Install and run cables under the guidance of IT professional staff.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling user data and systems.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a Kaskaskia College student (preferably in a technology-related program).

• Basic knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and common hardware components.

• Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset.

• Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and work independently or as part of a team.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

• Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs).
