Organizational Relationships
This position reports to the Controller who reports to the Vice President of Administrative Services who reports to the President of the College.
Qualifications for Position
Required:
Associate’s degree in accounting or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of general ledger, bookkeeping or related experience
Intermediate level of word processing (Microsoft Word preferred) and spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel preferred) application skills
Ability to understand complex rules, such as endowment and restricted funds, tax implications of donations, and investment statements
Passion to achieve results through self-motivation, initiative, and sense of professional curiosity as well as a desire to learn new things
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyze and interpret data for accuracy with strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong technological skills with knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing and database applications, and accounting software.
Flexibility and willingness to assume additional responsibilities within the Business Office functions
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Not-for-profit or fund accounting experience
Essential Functions
Maintain all aspects of financial record keeping for the Kaskaskia College Foundation, including, but not limited to: update donor records, prepare payment requests, maintain records for endowed and restricted funds, reconcile bank statements, prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Reconcile, investigate and report/resolve discrepancies found
Work closely with Executive Director of Development to maintain accurate Foundation financial and donor records
Prepare financial reports for Foundation Board and ensure timely submission of federal and state reports
Participate in Foundation Investment Committee, Foundation Board meetings, and various friend and fund raising events, generally held after hours, including minute-taking for Investment Committee meetings
Responsible for daily and end-of-month general ledger and cash accounting for Kaskaskia College, including monitoring cash balances and recommending appropriate cash transfers
Prepare schedules for and assist with the annual Foundation audit
Communicate with investment advisors/banks for the Foundation
Handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
Work with Controller to improve processes for efficiency
Ensure compliance with Foundation policies and procedures including recommending and drafting policies and procedures as needed
Perform accounting analysis and reports to support decision making as requested by employees, vendors and management for information
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational classes and workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Works in a standard office environment, with frequent distractions, interruptions and deadlines. Must be able to be mobile and stationary throughout the workday, have the ability to transport 20 pounds and be able to operate a computer and other business equipment. Occasional travel to education centers, professional development sites or other locations. Occasional evening and weekend hours.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $19.23-23.08 per hour and fringe benefits eligible.

BENEFIT SUMMARY SHEET FOR FULL-TIME NON-UNION SUPPORT STAFF KASKASKIA COLLEGE The following information is based on the current employee fringe benefits that Kaskaskia College offers. It is not intended to be a contractual agreement and in no way limits Kaskaskia College from altering such benefits in the future. VACATION LEAVE 12 days per year for first fiscal year. Thereafter, employee receives 12 days plus one additional vacation day for each year of completed service up to a maximum of 22 days per fiscal year. Leave is accrued at the rate of 1 day per month. SICK LEAVE 12 days per fiscal year PERSONAL LEAVE 3 days per fiscal year HOLIDAYS Minimum of 13 paid holidays per year HEALTH INSURANCE is effective the first day of the month after hire date and includes comprehensive medical, vision and dental coverage. Current Rates effective 9/1/21 $178.00 per month employee only coverage $290.00 per month for employee +1 dependent $335.00 per month employee +2 or more dependents Provider is Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois. LIFE INSURANCE is provided by the College and is effective the first day of the month after hire date. The benefit amount is equal to annual salary. RETIREMENT PLAN The State Universities Retirement System requires that 8% of an employee’s monthly gross pay is deducted for individual retirement purposes.
