Organizational Relationships
The Regional Support Specialist reports to the Regional Director of the Education
Centers, who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who reports to the
College President.
Qualifications for Position
Associate degree with relevant work experience.
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and human relation skills
Must be detail-oriented

Hold a valid Illinois Driver’s License
Essential Functions
To travel to education center locations and main campus to provide coverage for student services staff in times of absences.
Perform comprehensive student services for the benefit of all students (current and prospects) campus-wide which are supportive of admission through completion of education plan.
Assist in the recruitment of students.
Assist students with technology applications for learning including Canvas navigation, myKC, and other online platforms.
Ensure the proper opening and closing procedures and securing of facility is conducted at beginning and end of each day as needed.
Act as the College representative in the absence of the Director/Coordinator.
Provide accurate College information to the public.
Supervise student workers in the absence of the Director/Coordinator.
Support students in acquisition of textbooks and other resources for learning.
Provide supportive services to faculty, students, and community members who
utilize the education center.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Position may supervise student workers and custodial staff as necessary.
Supervisory Controls
While consultations with the Center Director/Coordinator are available as necessary, the employee must be able to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision. In addition, employee must be able to use independent judgment in dealing with and setting priorities for routine responsibilities and challenges that may arise.

Employee deals extensively with College employees, community members, students, and outside organizations on a daily basis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Normal working conditions are located in a busy office environment with frequent distractions and interruptions. Professionalism must be maintained at all times. Lifting of books and supplies up to 50 lbs. may be required. Occasional travel within the district and for professional development activities is required. Evening hours required as part of regular schedule. Typical working hours will be Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 8:30 pm.

BENEFIT SUMMARY SHEET FOR FULL-TIME NON-UNION SUPPORT STAFF KASKASKIA COLLEGE The following information is based on the current employee fringe benefits that Kaskaskia College offers. It is not intended to be a contractual agreement and in no way limits Kaskaskia College from altering such benefits in the future. VACATION LEAVE 12 days per year for first fiscal year. Thereafter, employee receives 12 days plus one additional vacation day for each year of completed service up to a maximum of 22 days per fiscal year. Leave is accrued at the rate of 1 day per month. SICK LEAVE 12 days per fiscal year PERSONAL LEAVE 3 days per fiscal year HOLIDAYS Minimum of 13 paid holidays per year HEALTH INSURANCE is effective the first day of the month after hire date and includes comprehensive medical, vision and dental coverage. Current Rates effective 9/1/22:$211.00 per month employee only coverage $334.00 per month for employee +1 dependent $356.00 per month employee +2 or more dependents Provider is Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois. LIFE INSURANCE is provided by the College and is effective the first day of the month after hire date. The benefit amount is equal to annual salary. Additional voluntary insurance is available at employee’s expense. FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT and 403(b) PLANS are also available. RETIREMENT PLAN The State Universities Retirement System requires that 8% of an employee’s monthly gross pay is deducted for individual retirement purposes. It is also required that .5% of an employee’s monthly gross pay be deducted to fund the College Insurance Plan for Community College Retirees. TUITION WAIVERS are available for staff and family.
