To perform instructional and work-based learning responsibilities in reviewing current cyber defense programs and
developing program needs in coordination with the Computer Information Technology Instructor for the Cybersecurity
career pathways, including short-term certificates, competency-based education, and workforce training. The intent is to transition this position to a full-time faculty member within three years.
Organizational Relationships
This position reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the Vice President of
Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College. May supervise student worker(s) as
necessary.
Qualifications for Position
Appropriate certification(s) related to cybersecurity and computer information technology
Two or more years of experience with cybersecurity
Commitment to community college mission and philosophy
Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills
Willingness and ability to teach students in the classroom and through alternative delivery methods
Work with the entire College community in an effective and positive manner
Preferred:
Bachelors degree or higher in field
Teaching/mentoring experience

Essential Functions
Perform instructional duties as assigned for the appropriate subject area.
Teach up to twelve (12) credit hours per semester, no more than (24) credit hours per academic year.
In coordination with current faculty, review currently existing programs for revisions and new cybersecurity pathways
Explore implementation of competency-based education, short-term certificates, workforce development training, and other educational models.
Develop and/or update appropriate curriculum for other CIT and cybersecurity classes being taught
Prepare or update syllabi as needed for all courses being taught.
Attend and participate in committee meetings, sponsorship of student activities, and other College
activities as requested.
Mentor and counsel students in the registration process and during office hours.
Seek partnerships, internship and apprenticeship opportunities, grants, and other work-based learning opportunities.
Assist with student employment opportunities.
Prepare reports as requested.
Participate in commencement exercises.
Recommend textbooks and equipment, which the instructor deems necessary in instructional assignments.
Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College-wide assessment program.
Perform program review.
Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Dean.
Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as necessary.
Participate in professional development activities both on-campus and off-campus as requested.
Keep abreast of current trends, technologies, and information in the subject area.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervise student worker(s) as necessary.
Supervisory Controls
An employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation
as necessary is available with the Dean/Vice President.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties will be performed in either a classroom setting or a business and industry environment.
Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel, is required as necessary.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $75,000-80,000 annually and fringe benefits eligible.

KASKASKIA COLLEGE The following information is based on the current employee fringe benefits that Kaskaskia College offers. VACATION LEAVE 1.83 days per month, for a total of 22 days per fiscal year. For grant-funded employees, vacation time must be used in the year that it is earned. RETIREMENT PLAN The State Universities Retirement System requires that 8% of an employee’s monthly gross pay is deducted for individual retirement purposes.
