Responsible for the overall management of the Kaskaskia College Children’s Learning Center.
Position reports to the Dean of Career & Technical Education who reports to the Vice President of Instructional Services who reports to the College President.
Qualifications for Position
Compliance with Illinois Department of Children & Family Service educational requirements for child care center directors:
60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours in courses
related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6
2 years (3,120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college credits with 10 semester hours or 15 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until 2 years of college credit have been achieved. A total of 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is required to be obtained within the total of 2 years of college credit
Minimum of 2 years of experience in early child care
Must be 21 years of age
Certification in First Aid and CPR
Ability to work a flexible schedule and be flexible in performing daily Center duties.
Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and planning skills
Ability to pass DCFS background check
Have or be willing to obtain food manager certificate
Manage the daily operations of the Children’s Learning Center
Oversee all Center staff, to include hiring and training in all aspects of Center standards
Develop age appropriate programming and special events for children in Center
Ensure Children’s Learning Center is maintained and cleaned according to local and state regulations
Responsible for ensuring an educational, caring, and safe environment for the children and parents
Maintain records of attendance, registration, student records, health records and licensing reports
Provide professional development opportunities for staff and Ensure that staff receive the required training and that required documents are up to date and accurate
Develop systems for feedback from parents and staff
Assist in preparing and monitoring Center budget
Order and maintain the supplies needed for Center operation
Create meal plans and provide meals and snacks required by DCFS for the children
Supervise children in various settings
Monitor income and expenses and react accordingly to variances in the operating budget to maintain a fiscally responsible Center
Develop and implement a comprehensive continuous quality improvement plan for the programming, staffing, and physical environment of the day care
Counsel with and advise parents and teachers regarding problems related to the growth and development of the children in their care.
Prepare all reports required by DCFS and any other governmental or regulatory office
Act as liaison between the College and the DCFS
Develop and maintain a policy and procedures handbook and provide regular communications with parents
Recruit new children into the program
Provide supervised internship opportunities for KC students
Maintain classroom staffing levels at all times to the proper ratio as specified in the DCFS licensing standards for the number of children present
Administer the programs for reimbursement from various State agencies, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Department of Human Services (DHS)
Performs others duties as assigned
Responsible for the supervision of the teachers and student workers
Works independently with a minimum amount of supervision, exercising judgment and discretion on a daily basis. Assistance and consultation with supervisor as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work environment has frequent interruptions and distractions and requires a great deal of standing and bending.
Requires travel to professional development and training sessions as necessary

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $42,500-52,500 annually and fringe benefits eligible.
