Responsible for assisting with all aspects of coordinating and coaching the Women’s Basketball team.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, who reports to the Director of Athletics, who reports to the VP of Student Services, who reports to the President.
Qualifications for Position
• Associate’s Degree • Previous basketball coaching experience • Strong public relations and communication skills (verbal & written). • Proficiency in organizing and planning • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to teamwork, process leadership, and consensus decision making. • Possess strong leadership qualities. • Commitment to the community college mission • Demonstrated commitment to supporting and participating in student activities and College events • Student oriented • Valid driver’s license
Essential Functions
• Assist with the development of a competitive Women’s Basketball team appropriate for the community college level. • Assist with monitoring the scholarship program in accordance with College policies. • Assist in coordinating the use of KC athletic facilities. • Assist Head coach with recruiting as assigned • Assist with inventory and ordering equipment, pursuant to College procedures. • Understand and abide by NJCAA and Great Rivers Athletic Conference rules and regulations. • Attend all appropriate GRAC and Region XXIV meetings as assigned by Head Coach. • Assist with monitoring academic issues with players • Assist in coordinating transportation for away games. • Uphold the positive image of Kaskaskia College by exhibiting professional conduct at all times. • Perform instructional/student success and related duties as assigned • Assist with publicity and community relations functions. • Support fund raising activities for athletic programs. • Assist with support organizations for athletics. • Assist in monitoring athlete housing • Assist in ensuring compliance with student athlete code of conduct • Work as part of overall athletic team to develop and improve athletic programs
Other Functions
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Assist with supervising student workers as assigned.
Supervisory Controls
Carry out assigned duties independently and with minimum supervision. Consultation with Head Coach and Athletic Director available as needed.
Guidelines
Expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.
Personal Relationships
Position will have daily contact with athletes, students, and other College employees and will have frequent contact with the community and external agencies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Extensive travel required. Flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends required.
Kaskaskia College is seeking applicants for the above position, which will be responsible for all aspects of developing and coaching the respective program. Flexible schedule, along with travel and weekend activities are required. Position will begin immediately.
Requires strong knowledge of rules in respective programs and strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills. Previous coaching experience and understanding of NJCAA and GRAC rules and regulations preferred. Background check required.
An annual stipend of $4,000 will be provided.
