Responsible for all aspects of coaching the Men’s Baseball Team.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Head Baseball Coach, who reports to the Athletic Director, who reports to the VP of Student Services, who reports to the President.
Qualifications for Position
Required: • Associates Degree • Baseball coaching experience • Commitment to teamwork and consensus decision making • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficiency in organizing and planning • Excellent leadership and managerial skills • Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy • Demonstrated commitment to supporting and participating in student activities and • College events • Valid Driver’s License
Preferred: • College Coaching Experience • Understanding of NJCAA and Great Rivers Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
• Assist with the development of a competitive Men’s Baseball team appropriate for the • community college level. • Assist with monitoring the scholarship program in accordance with College policies. • Assist in coordinating the use of KC athletic facilities. • Assist Head coach with recruiting as assigned • Assist with inventory and ordering equipment, pursuant to College procedures. • Understand and abide by NJCAA and Great Rivers Athletic Conference rules and regulations. • Attend all appropriate GRAC and Region XXIV meetings as assigned by Head Coach. • Assist with monitoring academic issues with players • Assist in coordinating transportation for away games. • Uphold the positive image of Kaskaskia College by exhibiting professional conduct at all times. • Perform instructional/student success and related duties as assigned • Assist with publicity and community relations functions. • Support fund raising activities for athletic programs. • Assist with support organizations for athletics. • Assist in monitoring athlete housing • Assist in ensuring compliance with student athlete code of conduct • Work as part of overall athletic team to develop and improve athletic programs • Assist in Field Maintenance/Preparation for Games and Practices
Other Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervise athletes and student workers as necessary.
Supervisory Controls
Completes assigned duties independently and with minimum supervision. Consultation with Head Coach and AD available as necessary.
Guidelines
Expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.
Personal Relationships
Position will have daily contact with athletes, students, and other College employees and will have frequent contact with the community and external agencies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Extensive travel required. Flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends required.
Kaskaskia College is seeking applicants for the above position, which will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of developing and coaching the Baseball program, as well as recruitment. Flexible schedule, along with travel and weekend activities are required. Requires strong knowledge of rules for baseball and strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills. Previous coaching experience is required. Understanding of NJCAA and GRAC rules and regulations is preferred.
