The ACE Professional Writing Tutor is responsible for providing tutoring in specific subject areas that aid student development. This position will tutor students on all writing and English-related work.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the Director of Student Retention and Support Services who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who report to the President of the College.
Qualifications for Position
Required
Proficiency in college-level composition (ENGL 101, 102).
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged students.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related subject area/field.
Previous community college experience.
K-12 or college-level teaching experience
Essential Functions
Provide excellent customer service in relation to writing and English tutoring.
Direct students, staff, faculty, and community members to appropriate ACE resources.
Assist in preparation of required reports and correspondence.
Maintain confidentiality of information according to FERPA.
Develop and implement individualized tutoring strategies as needed.
Ability to conduct virtual tutoring sessions.
Help students with homework assignments, exams, papers, and study skills to make them more successful and independent learners.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Other Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Position will assist in training and supervising student workers as needed.
Supervisory Controls
Position will be expected to work as part of the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) team with a minimum amount of supervision

Personal Relationships
Position will have daily contact with students, College employees, community members, and external agencies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to work in a high-traffic office environment with frequent interruptions. Must be willing and able to travel to training sites as necessary. Flexible schedule required, including evening and weekend work as necessary.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $18 per hour and benefits eligible.
