KC Family – Students, Faculty and Staff:
Effective Monday March 23rd, Kaskaskia College will conduct educational and the majority of operational services online for the remainder of the spring semester. This decision is based on state and federal guidelines as well as the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) recommendations and in consultation with the Illinois Council of Community College President’s (ICCCP), the Illinois Council of Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA), and the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) plus the latest available healthcare recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), effective Monday March 23rd, Kaskaskia College will provide online and remote educational and operational services for the remainder of the spring semester for the majority of all services. I greatly appreciate your patience during this transition, and please know we remain absolutely committed to ensuring your academic progress continues.
Students should anticipate communication from their instructors in the coming days, or they should then contact their instructor for direction.
Instructors should work with relevant support personnel on the varied delivery needs as well as the academic dean on submission of instructional delivery plans.
Coursework and Program Services/Classes
All regularly scheduled online courses that began in January are continuing as planned. All regularly scheduled online courses that began March 16 are continuing as planned. If you are taking online classes and/or hybrid courses (the online portion), you should be in your online classes and participating. If you are enrolled in face-to-face classes or were scheduled to begin a face-to-face class the week of March 16th, your course will now begin online starting March 23, 2020. From this point forward, through the end of the semester (May 15, 2020), all courses will be provided online.
All classes will be delivered via alternate methods unless noted otherwise pending instruction in a specialized discipline. Each instructor has developed their delivery system(s) which may include online, phone conferencing, Zoom or Skype, and a variety of other methods to ensure educational services and valuable learning continues to take place. Career and technical program instructors will come forward and contact students regarding how they will instruct the lab portion of those programs (please note these logistics are still being finalized and more information will come). Some CTE/Allied Health/Nursing programs will be modified when information does come from State Agencies such as the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations (IDFPR). Some CTE instructional units may meet with individual/small cohort instructional units (upon approval). Additionally, KC remains in contact with State agencies and specialized accreditors and will continue to update all specially accredited programs as additional guidance is received from their respective agencies. These are all logistics we are actively working through. Great care and planning has gone into how best to serve our students, as the staff of this institution have been working non-stop since last week Thursday. I am so very thankful for their dedication. Future modifications are anticipated and you will be contacted regarding any changes.

Contact your appropriate supervisor for approval through security and the president’s office. Signage will be posted denying access to campus unless authorized. Security is on site. No unauthorized entry will be permitted. Please note we are doing this for your safety!!
For college staff please note we have implemented a mandatory COVID19 preventative maintenance and informational training for all employees via SAFE Colleges that is to be completed online that emphasizes appropriate hygiene, virus mitigation and explains the practice of safe social distancing. Prior to return to campus all employees will be expected to view this very informational program.
Administrators and staff should contact their supervisors for direction and work from home instructions when needed.

HANG IN THERE!
On behalf of the KC Board of Trustees and myself, I wish to thank everyone for their patience and support during this historic tragedy. Rest assured, this crisis will pass. For what it is worth, I believe we are on the verge of experiencing a rebirth as a nation and for the first time since 9/11 we will bear witness to the full might of a united nation.
Lastly, I am and will always be eternally grateful for the staff, faculty and students at KC. Their courage, cooperation and compassion has me absolutely in awe. As I hit my knees tonight to speak to my lord, I will continue to thank him for blessing me with so many wonderful people. Your dedication and commitment to this amazing institution of higher learning will never, ever be forgotten. #WeAreKC!
