This certificate prepares the student to obtain the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from the American Health Information Management Association. The certificate is a three-semester program.
From the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Medical records and health information technicians, organize and manage health information data. They ensure that the information maintains its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper files and electronic systems. They use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information for insurance reimbursement purposes, for databases and registries, and to maintain patients’ medical and treatment histories.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, projected growth in this area is 16% from 2016-2026. The median pay is $38,040.
