This capstone practicum course provides students with the opportunity to gain competence in the practical application of early childhood education principles and theories in supervised early learning environments. Students will complete 200 hours of field experience-including 100 hours in infant/toddler settings and 100 hours in preschool settings-under the guidance of qualified early childhood professionals and a college instructor. Emphasis is placed on developing professional competence, ethical awareness, and reflective practice. Students will study moral issues, ethical dilemmas, and the promotion of integrity, respect, and professional courage in the field of early childhood education. The NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct serves as a foundational framework for understanding professional behavior and decision-making. Through this experience, students will strengthen their ability to provide quality care and education for young children while upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct. Prerequisite: ECES 111 and approval of instructor or Academic Dean.
