This course is designed to present to the student the knowledge required to provide basic nursing care to adults and children with common medical/surgical disorders of the endocrine, nervous, musculoskeletal, integumentary, renal and reproductive systems. Disorders of the eyes, ears, nose and throat (EENT) will also be covered. The concept of the nursing process will be integrated throughout the course. The student will be assigned to clients in selected hospital clinical sites. Emphasis will be placed upon utilizing the nursing process and effective communication skills to function in a structured setting within the defined scope of practice of the practical nurse. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of "C" in all first semester PRNU courses, PRNU 159, PRNU 158, PSYH 100, or with approval of instructor or Academic Dean
