Kaskaskia College's Engine Performance Certificate program will prepare you with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to service vehicle engines including cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles, and vans. You will be introduced to the theory, diagnosis and repair of engine performance systems in vehicles, as well as gain insight into specific aspects of this sector of the automotive service industry. The program includes both classroom instruction as well as hands on training.
Graduates of this pathway will be required to take professional licensure exams, which correspond to certain programs of study, and to enter careers as entry-level technicians in the transportation industry.
Students who complete the Automotive Technology Engine Performance Certificate are almost halfway to earning a college Diploma in Automotive Technology AAS degree. The students will have earned 24 of the 73 semester hours of credit required for the Degree.
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- Service vehicle engines including cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles, and vans.
- Perform general maintenance, adjustments, and diagnoses.
