Kaskaskia College is pleased to announce that Kara Harris, Principal of the Bond County Community Unit #2 High School in Greenville, is the recipient of the 2022 Kaskaskia College Educational Partnership Award. The award recognizes an organization, business, or high school of District 501 as an exceptional education partner to Kaskaskia College, and highlights a partnership that displays creativity, dedication, and commitment to students.

KC is recognizing Harris for her unwavering commitment to seeking new opportunities to better serve students. She has championed the expansion of the college’s KC Now Program which supports student access to college courses during their high school tenure. KC Vice President of Instructional Services Julie Obermark notes that as a member of the KC Now advisory board, Harris has helped maximize college opportunities for high school students throughout the KC district.

“Kaskaskia College, Bond County Community Unit #2, and residents throughout the KC district have benefited greatly thanks to Principal Harris,” said Obermark. “KC deeply appreciates the support and leadership she offers.”

Harris said she’s honored to have been chosen for the award. “In all honesty, it is Bond County Unit 2 School District and the other schools Kaskaskia serves that should be honoring them. Kaskaskia College and its wonderful staff are making it possible for all of our students to begin their journey to fulfill their dreams even before they graduate high school. I hope other colleges are paying attention to the forward-thinking administration at KC and begin to model their programs after KC so that more children can be served across the United States. Kaskaskia College is making a difference."

KC President George Evans joined Obermark in presenting Harris with the award prior to a recent meeting of the Bond County Unit #2 school board.
