Kaskaskia College Partners with Talkspace to Offer KC Students Access to Free Online Therapy Services

November 4, 2021

During this time of heightened stress and anxiety, Kaskaskia College is providing students with an additional way to support their mental health and overall well-being, with no-cost access to Talkspace online therapy.

Talkspace is a virtual service that connects KC students (18 years old and older) with licensed mental health providers for counseling, therapy, and support. All care is delivered through a private and secure digital platform (iOS/Android/Web). KC students registered with Talkspace via the KC portal can send their personal therapist unlimited private text messages anytime and attend a once-a-month live video appointment from anywhere. Providers message responses via text, voice, or video. Talkspace has many options— including self-help tools and education—to support the needs of adults, teens, and couples.

"One of the great things about Talkspace is the scheduling flexibility," states KC Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Susan Batchelor, "Students can seek help on their schedule and can potentially sign up and start communicating with a therapist within 30 minutes."

Established with the mission to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health and make high-quality care more available, Talkspace has a network of thousands of credentialed providers and has been used by over two million people.

For more information, you can contact Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Susan Batchelor, at 618-545-3033 or sbatchelor@kaskaskia.edu
