Kaskaskia College Moves Summer Semester to Online – Hybrid Classes

April 23, 2020

Kaskaskia College is continually reviewing updates and are following reports of the COVID19-19 pandemic and are working around the clock to continue to meet their mission of providing quality comprehensive education.

President George Evans says the College has been taking extensive preventative measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  “The health and wellbeing of all of our staff and students is a top priority.  Unfortunately, we cannot predict when current restrictions for our state and community will ease”.

Therefore, the College is announcing that all Summer 2020 courses will be delivered online and hybrid only. Evans adds, “This decision was not taken lightly.  These changes are being made to minimize the need to gather in large groups and spend prolonged time in close proximity in classrooms.  Our actions are consistent with the recommendations of the Governor, State health officials, and other community colleges across the state”.

Student Services staff will be contacting students who are directly impacted by the cancellation of their in-person courses and will be sending information with steps to transition them to courses being offered online.  While the majority of courses have been converted to online, there are a few courses that require a physical presence on campus, and the College is hoping to offer the physical/face to face components in July. The courses include hybrid courses, which are offered both online and on-campus instruction.

Evans states, “Our highest priority is the health and safety of our students and staff and the College leadership will continue to follow all public health guidelines to help guide us in our decision making.   We are committed to continue to adapt as necessary to ensure our students can stay on track in their academic journey”.

Registration for the summer and fall semesters is underway with summer classes scheduled to start June 8.  Please email kcadvising@kaskaskia.edu to speak to an advisor or for help in scheduling classes.
