What did you do before coming to KC? Before teaching in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Kaskaskia College, I worked as a RN in acute care and in a pediatric developmental disability center. During these experiences, I was able to work all three shifts, be a camp nurse and rotate through surgery as a circulating and scrub nurse. These experiences have afforded me the insight and appreciation of many the challenges presented to nursing. The amazing reality is that change is to be expected and flexibility is key to adaptation in the world of health care. Even though we are surrounded by technology, the people nurses take care of are the most important. I try very hard to emphasize the importance of compassion in giving individualized care to persons requiring health care. It is truly my pleasure to see student nurses grow and develop into professional nurses.
