Professor Kevin McCarty has over two decades of experience in theatre as an actor, director, stage manager, designer and educator. He has earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Theatre Studies from Ball State University (2007), Master of Arts in Theatre from University of Central Missouri (2013) and Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership from Park University (2018). He is currently working on completion of his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Professor McCarty has freelanced as a stage manager at theatres in Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Columbus. He also spent three seasons touring as an actor/director with Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre working with K – 12 students all across the upper Midwest. He has worked as an Entertainment Supervisor for Worlds of Fun Theme Park and has a background in hospitality management working for both Hyatt and Marriott. Professor McCarty has knowledge in all performance and tech/design of theatre and thrives on a student centric environment where students learn and experience all areas of the theatre arts.
