First Day ® Ready is a course materials rental fulfillment program that lowers the cost of course materials and ensures students have their required course materials on the first day of class.

What is included in the program?

The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

What is excluded from the program?

The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits, or nursing kits.

How does it work?

• Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
• One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference.
  • Students may choose in-store pick up (free), local education center pick up (free), or shipped directly to their home address for $5.00.
• An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pick up or when it ships.
• Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.

How do I enroll in the program?

Currently, the program is available to all students, excluding those in nursing and select allied health programs. All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the First Day® Ready Program.

The First Day® Ready fee is added to a student’s account at the time of registration.

Can I buy my rented textbook?

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

Do I need to return the book if they are for a continuation course?

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

What happens if I do not return the books by the due date?

A fee of 75% of the new course material selling price will be added to a student’s account for any books not returned prior to the due date.

When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore?

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals each semester. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their school email address.

Yes, you can opt out of the First Day Ready Book program. However, the majority of students choose to participate in the First Day®Ready program to take advantage of the affordability, accessibility, and convenience that First Day® Ready provides.

If you do decide to opt out you will be responsible for purchasing and obtaining all the materials necessary for you to be successful in all of your classes. If you do choose to opt out, you will be opted out from all of your courses for the current semester only. You will need to choose to opt out each semester that you wish to not participate.
