About Us
Kaskaskia College officially established an educational presence in Vandalia in 1990 in
an effort to provide educational opportunities to constituents in the northern most area
of the college district.
On January 16th, 2003 a group of community leaders met with members of the Kaskaskia
College administration and Board of Trustees to discuss the center’s growth and need
for additional space. As a result of this meeting, the idea for the Kaskaskia College
Vandalia Education Center was formed.
On August 29th, 2006 the ground breaking ceremony was held for the Simma-Kelly Education
Building at the site of the Vandalia Education Center. On December 17th, 2007 the Vandalia
Education Center moved into the new Vandalia Education Center located at 2310 West Fillmore.
The Vandalia Education Center consists of 21,358 square feet of space, which houses nine classrooms, a
student lounge, and two outside patio areas. The classrooms include one computer lab
open to the community, one instructional computer lab, a fully equipped nursing lab,
two science labs, an art lab, and three general classrooms. One of the three general
classrooms is a distance learning room. The general classrooms walls can be opened up
to host large meetings, seminars, and community functions. All rooms have state of the
art technology.
Students at the Vandalia Education Center are now able to take classes to complete several full
programs of study. We have programs for Licensed Practical Nursing, Administration of
Justice, Business, Agriculture, CISCO and Drafting. We also have plans for Registered
Nursing and Clean Coal Technology.
We are pleased to have reached a joint agreement with Lake Land College to allow
Lake Land College district students to register for some classes at Vandalia as one of
their off-campus locations while paying their college’s in-district tuition rates. In
turn, KC students may take some classes at the LLC Kluthe Center if these classes better
meet their schedules.
The new Kaskaskia College Vandalia Education Center will help the region realize a vision for the
future with an emphasis on the importance of lifelong learning through training and
retraining of the 21st century workforce.
