What is a Learning Community?

Grouplearningtogether.png

As a member of a Kaskaskia College learning community, you become a co-creator of learning, interact with supportive and caring instructors, connect with fellow students, receive Success Center support, and participate in an engaging learning environment.

According to the NLCP website “Students involved in learning communities become more intellectually mature and responsible for their own learning and develop the capacity to care about the learning of their peers.” (2008)

Benefits of Learning Communities

  •  Meet people and make friends

  •  Learn about resources available to you at  Kaskaskia College

  •  Increase your chances of academic success

  •  Get to know your instructors and classmates

  •  Create lasting friendships

  •  Broaden your learning experience

  •  Learn and have fun!
