The Title III Department will be conducting periodic training seminars on the use of new instructional technology (see schedule below). These seminars, held in L-107 the ICE lab, will cover the technical as well as the pedagogical aspects of each application. Please contact Brittany Garrett at extension 3234 to register or for more information.
The applications / devices that we are currently focusing on are:
i>Clickers are an exciting classroom response system that we are introducing at Kaskaskia this semester. This technology allows immediate polling of students during class for grades, or to gauge comprehension. (Two part training session, Session 1 – Pedagogy, Session 2 – Technology)
SoftChalk allows a user to create electronic lessons using a variety of gradable interactive objects. These lessons can be deployed via BlackBoard, CD, or via a website.
LanSchool classroom management software contains a number of features that make lab based instruction easier and more effective. It allows an instructor to easily demonstrate, assess, assist, communicate, monitor, and restrict student’s online activities.
Scientific Notebook is a very powerful mathematic authoring tool. It can be used to create and solve complex mathematical formulae. The material that is created can be exported and used in other applications.
