Retention Services
Kaskaskia College is committed to student learning and will provide citizens of
Community College District 510 meaningful, life-long learning opportunities and
experiences.
If you need assistance with classes, please contact the Retention Office. We can
assist you with tutoring, referrals, personal appointments, and
workshops.
Core Values: Kaskaskia College has adopted a set of positive core values
that we feel will contribute to making your educational experience with us
enjoyable and rewarding: RESPECT; RESPONSIBILITY; HONESTY; COMPASSION;
FAIRNESS.
Appropriate referrals to inside or outside agencies are offered. We want to assist
you with accomplishing your goals in every way possible.
KASKASKIA COLLEGE FACULTY: Do you have a student at risk for failing, or having
academic difficulties? The Retention Office wants to know who needs
help.
Faculty can email a student's name and in what class they are having difficulty to
the Retention Office. Early identification and early intervention improve the odds
of success. Poor attendance, poor test performance, turning in poor writing
assignments, and/or not completing homework may put a student at risk of not
completing a course.
Inform the Retention Office about these students. Email the student's information
to the Retention Office, and we will contact them to offer
assistance.
Bringing Education To You
The Retention Office wants to assist you with completing your coursework;
completing your degree/certificate/goals; furthering your education beyond
Kaskaskia College. We offer free:
- Tutoring: Student tutors are available for most subjects.
- Mentoring: The Career Enhancement Center provides student mentors.
- Workshops: Workshops on Memory; Test Taking; Note Taking; and Study Skills.
You may stop by the office without an appointment at any time. We will assist you
with developing a strategy for remaining in school and completing your educational
goals.
The Career Enhancement Center provides Student Mentors to interested students.
Faculty Mentors are also available upon request.
