Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Dennis Alexander Pracht of Centralia has been awarded the 2018 Patriotism Award that was presented at Kaskaskia College’s commencement ceremony held May 11.

Alex served in the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2011, retiring as a Staff Sargent/E6. During his tour of duty, Alex earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal three times, the Army Achievement Medal four times and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Medal of Freedom twice.

After leaving the service, Alex attended Kaskaskia College, earning an Associate in Arts in 2011. He then returned to KC to pursue his passion in criminology and received his Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice. While at KC Alex served as President of the College’s Criminal Justice Club, and as a member of the Veterans Club. He is currently involved with a Criminal Justice Articulation project between KC and the State of Illinois. His work with this project will benefit future military and veteran students that are majoring in criminal justice.

A proud father of a seven year old daughter, Alex is always willing to assist his fellow veterans and Kaskaskia College is honored to present Dennis Alexander Pracht the 2018 Patriotism Award.

The Patriotism Award was established by Kaskaskia College and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2055 in Centralia to recognize and honor a KC student for actions, deeds or service that is reflective of our democracy and acts of patriotism.
