Local Artist Ty Hartlipp to Have Wild Beauty on Display at Kaskaskia College Dr. Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery

The Kaskaskia College Dr. Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery is currently the hosting the works of local artist Ty Hartlipp in a new display entitled “Wild Beautythat will be available through March 30th.

Hartlipp of Kinmundy says since a young age, he has had a strong connection to nature.  “I’ve always been inspired by nature and feel that it has to do a lot with me being a nature photographer. I want my photos to tell a story and that story may be different for each person.  There is a great deal of emotion in some of my photographs and I want the viewer to feel their own emotions.  Some of the emotion comes from a good place and some not so good.  This is how I express myself.”

Hartlipp says that thanks to his grandmother, Shirley Martin, he has been into photography and art.  “I grew up watching her paint and quilt and she taught me about blending colors and what looks good”.

“I use my photos to share how strongly I feel about conservation since it is a big part of my life,” says Hartlipp.   “I feel that sharing my photographs with others may remind them how important nature is.  We need to protect and take care of nature or it may not be around for future generations to enjoy.  I hope my art encourages people to embrace their artistic side.”

Hours for the Kaskaskia College Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery are:  Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The gallery is also open for special events and by appointment.  For an appointment or for more information, please call Kellie Henegar, Dean of Arts and Sciences, at 618-545-3025.
