“Healthy Heart” Class Offered in Vandalia

The University of Illinois Extension office in partnership with Kaskaskia College will offer a 2-part series entitled “Healthy Heart” at Kaskaskia College’s Vandalia Campus.   The seminar will take place on Monday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 9 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  The registration number for this class is COED 8091 VA01D.


Coronary heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of serious disability. This 2-part series focuses on increasing participant awareness of the risk factors of CHD; hypertension, high blood cholesterol, and other warning signs. The series focuses on heart healthy foods, menus planning, low sodium strategies,  healthy eating away from home, omega 3/fish, dietary fiber, antioxidants, a healthy pantry, etc. Activity levels and weight management information on keeping your heart in good condition, as well as food demonstrations, taste testing, and recipes are provided at each session.  Cost is $20.00 for all ages.

register early.  All students must pre-register for this class.
