South Central Illinois Growth Alliance Pledges $10,000 to Assist with Manufacturing Courses at Kaskaskia College

The South Central Illinois Growth Alliance (SCIGA) voted at Wednesday’s meeting to pledge up to $10,000 towards the costs of instruction for introduction to manufacturing courses taught by Kaskaskia College with the intent that the course completers would then become employed at participating manufacturers throughout the KC district.  This model would be very similar to the Magna Track Model offered at Nashville through Nascote.

Interim KC President, George Evans says, “This is an excellent partnership and investment into the KC workforce and the community as a whole from SCIGA, and I am anxious to share the news with our area partners and high schools”.

It is anticipated that courses would begin as early as summer semester and/or the fall 2018 semester.

SCIGA is a five-county regional economic development organization that is putting forth a single unified effort to help attract or develop new business and industry in the region, and retain and expand existing companies, as well as work with area educational leaders to ensure that skilled labor needs are being met.  The Alliance consists of municipal, business and county leaders from Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion and Washington Counties, members of business and industry as well as staff from Kaskaskia College.
