KC Associate Degree Nursing Program Extends Application Deadline

The Kaskaskia College Associate Degree Nursing Program has extended the application deadline for March classes. Students wishing to begin the nursing program in March have until January 18th to submit their application to the admissions office.

The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a four semester program designed to prepare graduates for the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). A Registered Nurse (RN) practices individualized care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. RN’s are often patient care managers who work with LPN’s and CNA’s to provide total patient care.

The nursing curriculum includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical hands-on

experiences in healthcare settings. It is recommended that students in high school take

courses in biology, algebra, and computer skills to best prepare for an Associate Degree in

Nursing at Kaskaskia College. At the end of the program, graduates who pass the National

Licensing Exam become licensed Registered Nurses (RN).

KC will also offer the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) test on January 18th for students wishing to enroll in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. The TEAS test is a pre-admittance test through the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Nursing Education. Kaskaskia College uses this test to screen prospective students' ability to be successful in the nursing program.

Individuals wishing to take the test must register at: atitesting.com
