- Students may be required to successfully complete an audition before admittance to a four-year or university music program.
- Completion of the Associate in Fine Arts degree does not fulfill the requirements of the Illinois General Education Core Curriculum. Students who complete the AFA must complete their general education requirements after they transfer to a four-years college or university.
- Baccalaureate degree programs in the fine arts are highly structured and music majors must complete a sequential list of courses in the major field during their freshman and sophomore years. The Associate in Fine Arts accommodates the unique needs of students majoring in music.
- For students majoring in Music Education, completion of both an AA and AFA is recommended to improve articulation opportunities.
