TREES ADDED TO KC ARBORETUM

If you pay attention lately, you would notice that there are numerous trees planted in the West lawn along College Road, some along Keister Drive, some at the North and South side of Administration Building, and some at the East side of the Student Center. If you take a closer look you will notice that a green plaque is placed next to each tree identifying it.

Last month, November 2006, Kaskaskia College added 23 trees to its arboretum. The list of the trees added to the arboretum as follow:

  1. One Allegheny tree
  2. One American Linden tree
  3. One Colorado Blue Spruce tree
  4. One Crabapple tree
  5. Two Eastern Redbud trees
  6. One Golden Rain Tree
  7. One Green Ash tree
  8. One Kousa Dogwood tree
  9. One Prairie Fire Crabapple tree
  10. One Red Sunset Maple tree
  11. Tulip Poplar
  12. Eleven White Oak trees

Our ground crews have placed a protective layer of mulch around the trunks of these trees to help them weather the winter. And next year the Kaskaskia College Arboretum will be growing with more green than ever!
