Shirley Gilter

Nashville High School graduate, Shirley Gilter, attended Kaskaskia College from 1976-78 and participated in softball, volleyball, basketball and tennis where she excelled in all four sports. As a member of the Blue Angels softball squad, Shirley was named to the All-Conference Team, received the Most Stolen Bases Award and the Top Batting Average Award as a freshman. In her second season with softball she named Team MVP and received the Most Stolen Bases Award, Most Runs Scored and was also named to the All-Conference Team.
In volleyball, Shirley received the Top Server Award in 1976. For the Blue Angels Basketball Team, she received the Field Goal Award and Most Valuable Player as well being an All-Conference selection her freshman year. As a member of Blue Angel Tennis squad, Shirley was named Team MVP and qualified for the State Tournament in 1977-78. Shirley was also honored by being chosen to the Who’s Who Among Community College Athletes.
Shirley graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree from Kaskaskia College in 1978 and received an athletic scholarship to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
