Chuck Mundell

Mundell came to Centralia Junior College (Kaskaskia College) for the 1954-55 school year as Athletic Director, basketball, baseball, and tennis coach. He coached basketball through the 1982-83 season and accumulated a record of 400-358. His teams won ten conference titles and made state final appearances in 1964 (1st), 1965 (3rd), 1967 (3rd), and 1968 (4th). The 1964 team finished 28-3 and eighth in the nation. He coached five All-Americans in basketball and one in baseball. Coach Mundell has been an integral influence on numerous teams and players and a great many have also earned Hall of Fame honors because of his inspiration.
He served as chairman of the State Junior College Basketball Association for twenty-five years. He is a published writer and his book “Triple Threat Basketball” has sold worldwide. In 1982, he was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
