Pursuing a post-secondary certificate and/or degree can be a "scary" time in an individual’s
life. Kaskaskia College does not assume that all of our students are aware or possess the
awareness of the skills that are necessary to successfully complete their post-secondary
education. Therefore as a criterion of the
GED Scholarship
, students must complete a one
credit hour transitional course that consists of the following components:
- Time and Stress Management
- Note Taking and Study Skills
- Test Taking Tips
This course will be taught by Kaskaskia College’s Academic and Transitional Advisor, who
will also serve as the student’s academic advisor and support services liaison during the
student’s enrollment at Kaskaskia College. In addition, students will be provided
information on obtaining mentoring services through the GED
® Student Advisory Council and
tutoring services through Kaskaskia College’s Student Success Center and "The Reading Link"
Program.
Class activities will include academic informational sessions; campus tours; financial
aid assistance; and review of safety and security policies of Kaskaskia College.
For more information about the transitional course for former GED® students entering
post-secondary education at Kaskaskia College, please contact the Academic and Transitional
Advisor at 618-545-3118.
