Welcome to the Kaskaskia
College web site! We are a proud institution with a long history of serving the area with
quality educational programs and services. The college’s roots go back to 1940 when
it was a part of the Centralia High School District and was known as Centralia Junior
College. In 1966 the college expanded to become a comprehensive community college in a
multi-county district and was named Kaskaskia College. The college has the distinction of
being the first community college in Illinois formed under the Illinois
Public Junior College Act passed by the Legislature and signed into law in 1965. Thus,
Kaskaskia College is celebrating this year
43
years of excellence as a multi-county
comprehensive community college.
