Kaskaskia College Dairy Judging Team Finishes 8th at World Dairy Expo
The KC Team consisted of Kurt Thole (Carlyle), Debbie Mondt (Aviston), Elisabeth Siddell (Carlyle), and Chris Kollmann (New Baden).
Kaskaskia College Soccer Players Recieve Honors
Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that two soccer players, Ansley Murphy of Mt. Vernon and Sara Lambird of
Trenton were recently honored by being named to the Region 24 Honorable Mention Team. Ansley Murphy,
a freshman mid-fielder, was team co-captain this year and scored 3 goals with 2 assists. Sara Lambird,
another freshman mid-fielder was also named team Co-Captain, and scored 2 goals with 2 assists.
Speech Team
Four members of the Speech Team made it to the final round in the Duo acting competition at
Illinois Central College in East Peoria:
Matthew Horst and Carlie Pietsch, 4th place honors
Greg Williams and Mollie McGraw, 6th place honors

Mary Ann Bohbrink, former KC coach of the first women's basketball, softball, and volleyball teams;
the 1963-1964 KC Blue Devil basketball team;

Women's Golf Team, "Academic All-American Team" by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The team finished second in the nation in grade point average with a 3.65.
The 2007-2008 team coached by Jay Garrett, was made up of the following players:
Tiffany Blumhorst of Addieville;
Kayla Barkau of Okawville;
Allie May of Nashville; and
Chelsey Swartzlander of Centralia.

Women's Golf and Volleyball Team and Baseball Team
All-American for having a GPA of 3.8 or higher. These Players Include:
- Women's Volleyball Player Tara Weber (Newton);
- Softball Players Whitney Voss (Breese), Jamie Corbier (O'Fallon), and Bethany Jones (O'Fallon);
- Women's Golf Player Tiffany Blumhorst (Addieville);
- Baseball players Nathan Forer (Canada), Jason Sullivan (Shelbyville) and Jared Fisher (Okawville).
Five students were named Academic All Americans for having a GPA of 3.6. These students include:
- Men's golfer Deric Blaha (Freeburg);
- Softball players Kelsey Stolte (St. Elmo), and Nikki Aldrich (Robinson);
- Basketball player John Fischer (Salem);
- Baseball player Tyler Graham (Canada).

by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and David Bennett, Executive Directory of
the Illinois Press Association. Husher has received the Spotlight on Achievement Award. May, 2008.

Student Blake Welge of Carlyle was recognized as the 2007-2008 Outstanding Agriculture Student
in Agriculture Business Production and Dairy Science.
Student Jill Ripperda was recognized as the 2007-2008 Outstanding Agriculture Student in

at Spoon River College in Canton, IL
The KC Team received a 2nd place in Floriculture, 3rd Overall in Livestock, and 10th in Crop Specialist.
Student Jason Mewes placed 2nd as an Individual in Floriculture.
Kyle Hempen placing 3rd in Swine Specialist.
KC Dairy Judging Team
North American International Livestock Expo, Louisville, Kentucky, NAILE Dairy
Judging Contest. The KC Team judged 10 classes and gave 4 sets of reasons.
Individual results include:
- Erin Salger Red Bud, 6th Place in Jerseys and 10th place in Holsteins
- Mandy Middleton, New Douglas, 1st place in Brown Swiss and Holsteins
- Jessy Shomaker, Trenton, 7th place in Brown Swis, 9th place in Holsteins

Travis Henson of Salem was recognized by the KC Agriculture Program for his contributions to
the Ag Club for the past year. Henson is the Director of Marketing for Kaskaskia College.
Kaskaskia College PTK, August 2007
KC PTK received a 5 Star Designation at PTK Regional Convention, the highest honor for
chapter participation.
Susie Wurth was presented the Horizon Award at PTK Regional Convention for outstanding
services rendered at local and state level.
Ashley Nichols of Centralia received Honorable Mention for Outstanding Member. Marcos
Carpezo of Nashville received Honorable Mention too for Outstanding Officer.
