This technician position is responsible for providing technical support for all activities related to the installation, maintenance, and support of the College’s computer systems including hardware, software, peripherals, basic network troubleshooting, inventory control and end-user support at the main campus and the College’s locations throughout the district.
Reports to the Chief Information Officer, who reports to the VP of Administrative Services, who reports to the College President.
Qualifications for Position
Position requires an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field. Work experience along with Comp TIA A+ and other appropriate technical certifications preferred.
Solid technical skills and knowledge of the following:
Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7 – 10)
Microsoft Office Professional 20XX
PC Hardware/printers/peripherals repair
Basic Network Troubleshooting
Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively, calmly, and patiently with both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear, concise manner
• Provide technical support for all activities related to the configuration, installation, maintenance, and support of the College’s computer systems including hardware, software, peripherals and end-user support. • Assist with Helpdesk support and provide excellent customer service. • Assist with inventory control of technology equipment including availability of current deployable devices, decommissioned units and units designated for recycling. • Troubleshoot device connectivity issues to data networks. • Basic understanding of MS Active Directory. • Assist with remote management tools to ensure ongoing technology maintenance and enhancements. • As a team player, provide a cooperative attitude, share technical knowledge, and continue professional development in a complex, technical environment.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Provide mentorship of student workers and interns.

Position will have frequent contact with College employees, students, vendors, community members, Board of Trustees, and outside organizations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work in a fast-paced, team environment with frequent interruptions. This position will also make frequent personal visits to end-users located throughout a large campus and travel to various education centers located throughout the College district. Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license and possess reliable transportation. While allowing for comfort, a neat and professional appearance is expected.
Individuals must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds. Work will require frequent bending, lifting, a wide range of arm movement, finger and hand dexterity, and occasionally require climbing and working from ladders. Setup or maintenance of some equipment may require work in areas with restricted room for movement.
Kaskaskia College is seeking applicants for an IT Support Technician. This position is responsible for providing technical support for all activities related to the installation, maintenance, and support of the College’s computer systems including hardware, software, peripherals, basic network troubleshooting, inventory control and end-user support at the main campus and the College’s locations throughout the district. Some of the essential functions of the role include but are not limited to; providing technical support for all activities related to configuration, installation, maintenance and support, assisting with Helpdesk support and providing excellent customer service, assisting with inventory control, producing standard desktop images and mass deploying desktops and laptops using hard drive imaging software, and troubleshooting device connectivity issues to data networks.

This is a full-time position scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Hourly pay is $16.00.

VACATION LEAVE 12 days per year for first fiscal year.
