Mechanic
Job Description
South Central Transit is looking for a talented mechanic to join our team in our Breese facility. You will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing various bus systems and components.
- Perform various tasks regarding preventative maintenance of transit bus vehicles
- Use instruments and gauges, including computers, to test and determine system malfunctions
- Inspect, align, replace, adjust, and repair various bus components and systems
- Prepare written reports and verify that work repair was done with documentation
- Maintain inventory and records on stock parts and supplies
Qualifications
Must be 21 with a good driving history
Able to obtain or possess an IL state issued Class C CDL with passenger endorsement
Must meet all DOT physical requirements
Submit to and pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
Able to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds
Must possess own tools
Have proof of ASE certification or completion of Automotive/Diesel repair from an accredited school
